Obliteration

During the obliteration procedure, an agent is introduced into the vein that adheres to the inner wall of the vessel and thereby seals the selected vein. In order to achieve a complete adhesion to the venous walls, additional external pressure is necessary. This is ensured through the application of compression stockings or bandages.

The obliteration of varicose veins, also called sclerotherapy, is diversely applicable. It is primarily applied in the treatment of spider veins, lateral branch varicose veins or with recurrent varicose veins.
